Qualifications:
- Completion of associates degree, preferred
- 1-3 years of related experience with similar program objectives, student development, or high school academic advising preferred
- A combination of college education with related experience utilizing comparable knowledge and skills
- Career Development Facilitator (CDF) certification or experience providing career development information to students, preferred
- Ability to work within a flexible schedule to provide support services for diverse populations
Responsibilities:
- Under general supervision plans, designs, and directs a comprehensive student success program to promote student success and retention
- Ability to identify and retain eligible students to receive program services.
- Work to develop valuable programs and support services to reduce participant dropout rates.
- Guide program students in their participation in school and community activities.
- Implement effective strategies for Student Success Program participants to promote achievement.
- Meet with eligible students to develop educational and career development plans.
- Plan and coordinate meaningful opportunities to further career exploration, work readiness skills, and financial literacy.
- Assist program students with successful transition to post-secondary education/training and employment.
- Provide eligible students with up-to-date information on college admissions process.
- Direct students to accessibility of fee waivers for college applications, SAT/ACT. AP exams and scholarship opportunities.
- Effectively assist and guide senior participants through the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) process.
- Notify and inform program students of eligibility and criteria of State scholarship programs including: TIP (Tuition Incentive Program), MCS (Michigan Competitive Scholarship), Fostering Futures and other available State scholarships.
- Assist students and their families by effectively connecting them to appropriate community resources to overcome barriers.
- Support counseling team with student completion of Xello for college and career readiness.
- Perform other related work as required.
